The streets in Junon were empty, as the sound of a motorbike engine broke the silence. Shops were closed early, and there were no people to be seen anywhere.
Steering Fenrir down the Junon main street and directly to the docks, Kadaj supposed he should be surprised. That idiot, red-headed monkey had been true to his word, after all. And when the Turks did a job, they did it properly. There were guards posted on the docks, ensuring that nobody boarded any ships, and that no ships left port. Slowing Fenrir to a halt, Kadaj narrowed his eyes as he spotted Reno, some distance away, chatting to one of the guards (who was looking rather uncomfortable) with his arm around his shoulder. Drunk, as usual.
"Tch." The remnant swung himself from Fenrir's saddle, checking that Souba was secure in its scabbard, before striding across to the Turk, an irritated expression on his face, in spite of the fact that everything was as Reno had said it would be.
"Any sign of brother?" he demanded, as soon as he was in earshot, and then, after studying the sleazy expression on the red-head's face, he wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Drunkard."

Reno had been here for well over two days...straight...without anything 'fun' to do, nobody to talk to or even a single girl to approach. Of course, he had planned out this whole ordeal of catching that certain theiving blonde and didn't want any distractions. It worked when he forced himself to block out those things that made his life sweet and fun; everything about the plan fell into place perfectly (as hard as it is to say) and when the 'target' showed up...they would have him and he'd be busted before he could realise it.
The red-head had finished setting up the trap a day ago, so for one whole day all he did was sit around and do nothing...absolutely NOTHING. That was until a shipment of tequilla imported from Costa Del Sol showed up a few hours ago...ships could still dock in...but none could leave the docks, not even if they where inspected. Well, Reno insisted that HE inspected the cargo of the Costa Del Sol ship...and by inspecting he meant taking about four bottles of tequilla and drinking them all by himself.
The poor guard he was hitting on didn't realise how annoying the Turk could get, especially as hammered as he was.
"Ehhhh...you wanna go out with me?...I'm from the Tuuuuurrrrkssss ya know...actually...you look really boring...are you a loner, yo?" the red-head rambled on, a smug-sleaze like expression on his face...his cheeks flushed pink as he dazily kept his eyes half open and left his tongue stuck out after speaking. After hearing a certain remnants voice, Reno released his arm from around the guard, who remained motionless and desperate to leave. The title "Drunkard" was quite convenient...considering the Turk was totally drunk out of his head right now and would probably pass out if he drank anymore. Luckily for him, the guards hid the other bottles of tequilla he selected to 'inspect'. The Turk slouched forwards, his hands drooped down as he eyed Kadaj up and down...as if examining him. After smiling as if highly satisfied with what he saw, the Turk blushed happily as he flung himself into a smug and 'play-it cool' stance...effortlessly stroking a hand through his red messed-up hair. He leaned on Kadaj's shoulder, forgetting the remnant was armed, and delivered a teasing wink to the silver-haired youth.
"Ehhhh...you look single, babe...you...uh...got ten minutes?" Reno asked smugly, placing his free hand on his hip. The red-head was so drunk, that he nearly forgot why he set the trap in the first place...all he remmebered was about this hot blonde guy wanting the black materia shards from this emo-kid with gravity-defying hair.

"Brother. Where is he?" he demanded again, but Reno was quite clearly not listening. Kadaj's eyes narrowed as Reno "examined" him, waiting for a response to his question, and none-too-patiently. Was this idiot monkey EVER sober? And then the Turk was leaning all over him, and the remnant's hand strayed to the hilt of Souba. At first, he was so taken aback he could do little more than glare at the red-head. Was he... FLIRTING with him? "Tch, you stink of alcohol," he muttered, ducking away from the Turk. "Do you even remember the reason you're here? Or are you too drunk?" ((THE MOST UBER-CRAPPY SHORT POST EVER TO HAVE EXISTED!!!! ))

Reno didn't realise the remnant was unimpressed by his display...or his 'flirting'...and just fell down and flat on his face as he moved from the Turk's 'leaning' posture. Even after getting a face fully slammed down on the hard pavement, Reno got back up to his feet and brushed himself down...wiping away a small smudge of blood from his nose before chuckling drunkly at kadaj.
"I'm here cause....some hot guys wanted me to....catch this...ughhh....emo kid....and get something he has..." Reno answered, slurring his words as he tried to speak. The Turk stumbled forwards after the alchohol finally took it's toll on him, causing him to trip over and slam directly into Kadaj...before swayng backwards and falling onto his backside.
"Ehhh....you look reaaaaal well built...sweetie....how about givin' a lonely Turk a hand in getting up?" Reno laughed drunkly as he tried to get up, but continued to fall back onto his backside. The clumbsy oaf. ....or was he? What if he was just being sneaky like he was well known for being? He had been bored and alone for 2 days, so he'd probably try anything he could to have a bit of fun...even a cheap thrill would make him feel better. Even if messing with Kadaj was like a young boy sticking his head into the gaping jaws of a lion, who hadn't eaten if months.
"C'mon babe, you wouldn't leave a...guy like me...sittin' in the street, would ya?" he said smugly, flashing off his typical sleazy-bag expression. Of course he knew Kadaj WOULD leave him there, but hell...he didn't want the remnant to leave, he was bored...and he liked how the silver-haired youth looked. Almost as much as he liked his alchohol.

Kadaj was glaring at Reno in disgust, unsurprisingly. Ok, so he'd never seen the red-head sober, but neither had he ever seen him quite this hammered. As the Turk crashed into him, Kadaj took a step backwards, his eyes narrowing irritably. He was extremely tempted to... well, to beat the crap out of the idiot monkey. But there were more important things to deal with right now. Like waiting for brother, and making sure he got those Black Materia shards.
One good thing about Reno being drunk was the fact that he wouldn't be too determined to get the shards off Cloud. Hell, the remnant wasn't even sure Reno remembered that there was any such thing as "Black Materia", let alone that he was supposed to be retrieving them for ShinRa.
Would Kadaj leave a guy like Reno sitting in the street? Yes, yes he would.
Turning on his heel, he strode away from the Turk, heading back to Fenrir. He was feeling impatient. Maybe he'd head out and scout around outside Junon, see if he could catch Cloud before he'd even entered the town. That way, he wouldn't have to put up with the idiotic drunken monkey for any longer than was absolutely necessary.

Reno scowled once he saw Kadaj turn away to leave, like a little kid who lost his lollypop for being naughty. What was kadaj so stuck up about anyway? Must have something to do with why Reno was in Junon to begin with. The Turk quite easily hauled himself up, obviously faking the whole 'I'm totally smashed, help me up' thing just to get attention. He staggered after Kadaj, keeping his distance of course, whilst trying his best not to trip over or loose his pace. But his clumbsy nature is hard to overpower...he did trip over his own feet and flung into Kadaj again, this time, he didn't fall backwards and onto his ass...he continued his trip forwards...hitting Kadaj's back head first. Where was this remnant going anyway? and why was he in such a rush?

Cloud had finally reach junon...after days of fighting off hungry monsters and running away from strange travellers he finally made it. 3 times during his journey, Cloud could have sworn he passed out...but every time he awakened, he'd be somewhere else...as if he walked in his sleep. It's like when he stopped off at Fort Condor for a rest, he blacked-out on his way up the hill and awakened inside...but everyone was dead. Did he do all that? Or was someone ahead of him doing all this? Thinking hard about it as he took the main elevator up to it's highest point, Cloud drifted into question...wondering who caused the deaths of all those people. Once the elevator reached the top, the blonde exited and turned right to head out onto the main street...in hope of reaching the docks, where he knew a cargo ship would be waiting for departure. Or so he thought...
"Hmm?" the blonde grunted, narrowing his eyes to see a little further into the distance. He saw several guards and troops belonging to ShinRa heavily protecting the docks...and a drunkard stumbling about in the streets over someone else, who was only trying to reach their motorbike. Wait...was that Fenrir? HIS bike. But...the only person he knew who'd want to take his bike was...
"Kadaj." Cloud muttered, as he drew Nailbat and remained stood in the middle of the street...in the open. Reno was no threat, he was drunk...he'd only get himself hurt so Cloud knew that it was best to ignore him. But Kadaj, he most likely would try to get those shards again.

Kadaj knew Reno was following him - he could hear the clumsy footsteps behind him - but he chose to ignore the red-head. He wasn't worth the trouble. But then something hit him hard in the back, knocking him forwards and almost into Fenrir. Rounding on Reno angrily, Kadaj drew Souba, but his eyes narrowed when he saw the Turk sprawled on the floor, not moving. Unconcious? Or pulling another attention-seeking stunt?
A movement in the corner of his eyes drew his attention, and he glanced up to the steet leading into the docks. There was Cloud, walked right into the trap. And still wielding that ridiculous Nailbat. A smirk appeared on Kadaj's face, his head tilting to one side in the child-like manner that he had. Cloud's appearance had certainly helped his mood.
"Brother! So good of you to join us!" Kadaj called to the blonde, his voice childishly happy, lifting his arms to either side in a mock-welcoming gesture, and even inclined his body slightly to the ex-SOLDIER in a rather sarcastic bow.
The remnant strode towards Cloud, aiming a viciously hard kick at Reno's ribs as he stepped around the unconcious Turk. He had no patience for idiotic, sleazy, drunken monkeys. There was something far more important to attend to.
"So thoughtful, saving me the trouble of having to search for you," he almost giggled as he spoke, and there was a smile on his face as he stopped a few feet away from the ex-SOLDIER - a smile that was a disturbing mixture of childish innocence and deep, hateful malice.
But then, even as the smile remained on his face, his voice dropped into a dark, threatening tone, the pupils of his eyes narrowing to cat-like slits, as he raised Souba to point the twin-bladed weapon at Cloud's chest... where the fragments of Black Materia were embedded.
"Now then, it's time for me to take what's mine..."

"...you'd have wasted your time trying to search for me. I know how to keep hidden, Kadaj." Cloud said coldly, his face remaining compleatly emotionless. Seeing Reno practically knock himself out and become the 'punching/kicking bag' of Kadaj made the blonde slightly weary...a trap? Who set it up then? Reno was not known for being very serious about his job...and Kadaj couldn't have done anything. These where ShinRa SOLDIERs and guards...not puppets of Sephiroth's army. Even the childish antics of the remnant made him feel slightly sick to his stomach, he didn't know why exactly...but he just felt it deep in the pit of his gut. The growling of how discomfortable he felt churned in the back of his throat, a slight fluid-growl released itself from the cages of his teeth as he snarled towards the remnants gesture of picking a fight with him. He was fit to fight, but his weapon was practically useless and totally unsuitable for fighting against blades. Nailbat after all was just a wooden baseball bat with nails in it. Maybe he could swipe Reno's shock stick and use that? Well..anything is better than nothing. He just had to get around Kadaj, delay him for a bit...just long enough to get a decent weapon.
"The black materia isn't yours. It's Sephi---" Cloud began, but realised what he was about to say "---it's noones. The black materia belongs to noone." he corrected quickly, holding Nailbat in a defensive position.
"And tell your 'puppet master' to stop toying with me. I'v had enough of him."

Reno whimpered as he fell flat on his face, and the blow to the ribs just caused him to cough loudly in pain. But that kick was what he needed to get back up...and almost all traces of him being drunk where gone. Well...other than the smell of alcohol and the poor sense of direction and balance. Oh, and he couldn't remember why he was here or what he had to do. At least kadaj was there.
"Hey man, why're ya picking a fight with blondie?" Reno asked dryly, rubbing his sore head. Then it hit him, Kadaj mentioned getting 'something that belonged to him'. Rufus asked for a similar thing too...what was it again? Cloud only then blurted out about the black materia. And that's when everything came back to him.
"Ughhh..." Reno rubbed his head as if nervous, Cloud looked like he wanted to rip both their throats out and Kadaj looked really...errr...spooky. Maybe he should sit back and watch for a bit?
"I think 'll go sit over there whilst you two settle things out!" Reno suggested in a slightly cheesy manner, giving them both two thumbs up before hurrying over to a bench and hiding behind it...knowing what to expect now.

"Is that so?" Kadaj purred, striding around Cloud and stopping a few paces past the blonde, with his back turned to him, seemingly completely unconcerned that the other was armed... and very dangerous. The high, childish note had crept back into his voice, mocking the ex-SOLDIER. "You certainly don't know how to avoid traps, though, do you, brother?"
The smile on the remnant's face faded slightly as Cloud nearly said 'Sephiroth', but with his back turned to the blonde, it wouldn't have been noticeable. He shot an irritated glare at Reno as the red-head interrupted, before running off to hide. Useless monkey. Or maybe not entirely useless...
"Reno," he called, somewhat reluctantly, although he didn't allow it to show in his voice. Instead, he allowed a little of that allure he possessed, as part of the extremely alluring Sephiroth, to show through. No doubt that would go down well with the drunken monkey after his previous attempts to hit on him. He could only hope the red-head was sober enough to take a hint... and to actually do something about it. "It would be very... useful right now if the lift to lower Junon were to somehow become... out of order."
He wasn't about to have Cloud run off on him again. He didn't have time or patience to chase the ex-SOLDIER all over the east continent. He wanted those shards now. And nothing was going to stop him from retrieving them.
"Well, brother, if the Black Materia doesn't belong to anyone, you won't mind me taking the shards, will you?" Kadaj lifted his shoulders, and raised his hands, palm-up, either side of him, that child-like-yet-malicious smile playing on his lips once more.
As for what Cloud had said about the 'puppet master'... Quite frankly, Kadaj had had enough of Sephiroth, too. But as much as he wanted to be rid of the one-winged angel, there was nothing he could do about it. Nothing at all.
The memory of Sephiroth's complete control over him left a sickening feeling of powerlessness that consumed from the inside out. So alike to the feeling that had plagued him when he had failed time and time again to locate mother. A feeling of... no wonder mother loved Sephiroth more than him, if all he could do was fail... if his only purpose for existing was to harbour the memories of Sephiroth, and become, with mother's cells, the one-winged angel himself... if Sephiroth was so superior to him that he could control him like a puppet on strings...
The remnant was glaring at the ground, his shoulders lifted defensively. The mere mention of Sephiroth filled him with such intense anger. Lifting the hand that held Souba, he gazed at the twin blades for a moment, before finally turning back to face Cloud, his bright, cat-like eyes, which seemed to pierce right through to the soul... identical to the eyes of the one-winged angel.
"If you're so desperate to be rid of Sephiroth, brother," he tilted his head to one side again, his face twisting into a sneer. "Then I will kill you. That's the only way you'll ever be free of him. And then, I will take the shards of the Black Materia. That way, we both get what we want."

Reno, now finally smacked-off the drunkard-like foolishness, took heed to Kadaj's idea of shutting down the elevator. Luckily he'd already planned on doing that.
"No worries, yo. I already made sure some of my guys where waiting around, waitin' for blondie to show up...and once he got up here, they'd cut the power. Already done." Reno chuckled, still hiding behind the bench. He didn't want to get involved in the fight...that would be suicide. He just made sure not to piss Kadaj off either, remembering what happened that long time ago when he kicked both his and Rude's backsides. One person who nobody should piss off was Sephiroth...but right now, Cloud was the main target of ShinRa...not him or his remnants. But Cloud, if what they heard was true, had become just as dangerous as their silver-haired enemies...if not more dangerous because he had the black materia. Reno just hoped the blonde didn't know how to use it, if he did, then both him and Kadaj where in for a VERY rough ride.
....and after drinking that much, Reno didn't fancy it.
(sorry, boring post!)

"If I knew how to avoid traps, I would have to be psychic...and if I was psychic, you'd never have existed..." Cloud growled, maintining a stern and cold expression on his face. He flexed his shoulders and neck slightly, readying himself for the worst...it didn't help either once he heard Reno and his 'buddies' had already cut the power to the elevator. So he'd either have to find a new way out of Junon, fight in what could be a fatal battle or mgically grow wings and fly out to where he wanted to go. ...now that he thought about it, the second or third option where probably the most likely to happen.
"The black materia belongs to the planet, no other being owns it...the planet only chooses who is it's keeper. And I chose ME. So there's no way I'm giving it to you. Ever." Cloud hissed dryly, sounding almost bitter and irritated by what he just said himself.
"There is one other way to be rid of Sephiroth, and that's to hunt him down and kill him. Once he's gone, I can block out any remains of his influence and be 'normal' again."

"Oh?" Kadaj shot at cruel smirk at Reno. If the lift was already taken care of, he had no reason to give a damn about what the red-head did any more, and therefore he had no reason to be nice to him, and, thankfully, no reason to have to 'flirt' with him in order to get his own way. "So, you can do things properly. I was beginning to wonder how you ever managed to get in to the Turks. But it seems you are, occasionally, useful."
There was no doubt that Kadaj enjoyed toying with people - in the manner of a cat playing with a mouse it had caught before it finally kills it - and he especially loved toying with Cloud. Of course, in exactly the same way that Sephiroth loved toying with the ex-SOLDIER, tormenting him and gradually breaking his mind. Kadaj was a remnant of the one-winged angel, after all.
He let out a short laugh - more like a giggle really, and as child-like and twisted as his smile. "You really don't know anything, do you, brother? Why would the planet keep - or even make - something that could bring about its own destruction?" He strode around Cloud again, circling the blonde like a hungry wolf. "No, the Black Materia belongs to mother. She brought it here with her, from the sky... That Materia isn't part of this planet. The Cetra stole it from her when they sealed her, and hid it with their magic... But it has always belonged to mother. If anyone 'chose' you to bear that Materia, it was mother. It doesn't matter who summons Meteor, just as long as Meteor comes, and mother's wish is fulfilled."
How did he know these things? Simple. It was all in the memories which he had gained from Sephiroth... which Sephiroth had gained from Jenova herself...
Jenova wanted the Black Materia under her complete control, which meant in the hands of one of her more obedient puppets. And when the Materia was complete, Meteor could be summoned once more... And with Meteor's coming, the planet would be wounded sufficiently to make it possible to drain it dry of Lifestream. All the energy and wisdom and memory and life would belong to Jenova as it became a part of one of her puppets... Just as had happened to many other planets in her journey through the cosmos. Jenova, a parasitic lifeform which drains the life of its host and leaves behind nothing but an empty shell... Jenova, the Calamity from the Skies...
Jenova, who, to Kadaj, was simply "mother", and everything to him, and nothing more. Puppets didn't need to see their master for what she really was... or they might start to doubt her, and that couldn't be allowed to happen. Disobedient puppets were worthless.
"It doesn't matter who summon's Meteor," Kadaj repeated, his eyes locking with Cloud's, his voice low and angry and strained with intense emotion. "But I want those shards. I want to be the one who succeeds in mother's aims... She'll love me for that, do you see? More than she loves Sephiroth. I'm sure of it."
For a few minutes, the remnant was silent and still, studying the blonde silently. Then, he tilted his head to one side, his expression malicious, yet lacking the childish glee from moments before.
"Do you really think that you would be able to kill Sephiroth, brother? Don't be ridiculous. And even if you somehow managed it, you would never be rid of him. For that, you would have to kill me, as well, and Loz and Yazoo, because if I'm alive, I'm sure all our brothers must be." The sunlight flashed along the twin blades of Souba, like the malice which flashed in his eyes, as Kadaj raised his arm. "And you will never be 'normal'. Even if you were rid of Sephiroth, you will never be rid of mother. Because it's mother who controls us, really, even if she does it through him."
He spat the last word with intense venom, all of his hatred and jealousy of the one-winged angel boiling up inside of him and threatening to spill over. All of his rage which he gathered now, and focused at the blonde man, his treacherous brother, who stood before him.

Cloud maintinaed his gaze on Kadaj, eyes narrowed and heavily focused on what the remnant was up to. Reno had actually proven his worth? Why was he working with the enemy, anyway? He heard about Jenova being the sole owner of the Black materia, or the creator of it...and how thr planet and the Cetra where in fact trying to hide it. The sheer mentioning of the Cetra and Jenova sent shivers down the blonde's spine...he recalled that Temple and the things he saw in there...and everything Kadaj said, was exactly as Sephiroth would have put it all. If 'mother' wanted something, her most 'loyal puppets' will do everything they can to obtain and give her that very thing. In this case, it was the black materia. The very thing inside Cloud's torso, screaming at him to let it out and take a new host. But he was fighting it as best he could, the only signs of his discomfort showed by his left eye twitching.
"If killing you all is what I must do to free my self, then I'll do it."
