Name: Gabriel
Age: mid-30s
Gender: male
Hometown: Midgar
Occupation: Turk
Appearance:
Weapons: Gabriel wields twin handguns. He’s known for being a startlingly fast and accurate shot. Before he joined the Turks, he was somewhat (in)famous in the slums of Midgar – to the point of almost “legendary” status. It was said the by the time you saw the guns in his hands, you were already dead.
Personality: Cool-headed and a consummate professional, to the point where he has been compared to Tseng, Gabriel carries out his orders swiftly, and he carries them out well. However, after spending the greater part of his life under the plate, and a good deal of time working in Midgar’s criminal underworld in the employment of Don Corneo, he’s used to doing things “his way”, and isn’t too happy with being forced to follow protocol. He’s not much of a team player, which can, and very often does, cause problems on assignment. Although, after the years he’s spent with the Turks, he’s gotten used to doing things a little closer to the way Tseng wants them done (or at least at pretending to be trying to do so), his background, along with his eternally stubborn attitude and reluctance to change, means that he’ll always have that independent mind-set.
Gabriel’s stubbornness and obvious confidence in himself and his abilities can make him seem a little cocky, especially as his self-assurance contrasts so starkly with his rather cynical attitude towards anyone and everyone else. His disregard for protocol, and general dislike of something so uninteresting as, for example, paperwork, means he has a tendency to “forget” to file his reports, or carry out other such menial duties. He also has a similar disregard for the Turk dress-code as Reno (although not to quite such a degree as the red-head), usually forgoing a tie and leaving the top buttons of his shirt undone. Gabriel gets bored pretty easily if he has nothing to focus his mind on— if he’s not got an assignment to complete, he tends to invest his time in women, gambling, and alcohol (not necessarily in that order). Fortunately, though, he’d never go so far as to be drunk on duty— living in the slums and working for the Don tends to teach a harsh lesson, and he knows it’s absolutely essential to have his wits about him at all times while he’s working.
Though he was initially indifferent to ShinRa, and held no real loyalty to anyone but himself, he seems to have developed a certain amount of pride in his occupation, although this could be more for his position as a Turk than in ShinRa as a company. In fact, on some occasions it seems that furthering his own career, and especially his reputation, seems to be of more consequence to him than the advancement, or survival, of the company. Whether that’s true or not, however, remains to be seen.
History: Embroiled in the criminal underworld in the Midgar slums from a young age, Gabriel ended up in the employ of Don Corneo, a powerful figure who controlled the majority of illegal trade in and around Wall Market. As one of the Don’s bodyguards, Gabriel quickly earned himself a reputation as a cool-headed killer and a highly accomplished gunslinger, among others. However, he eventually grew tired of the underground politics that overran the scene in Wall Market and decided he wanted out.
It was around that time that he got an offer from the Turks. Knowing his dissatisfaction with his current situation was not likely to just go away, and his defection would not be looked upon kindly by the Don or his cohorts (and that as a Turk, they most likely would not dare come after him), he accepted. Becoming one of the Turks also gave him the prime opportunity to truly put his skills to the test.
