"Monster!"
"Foul beast!"
"Wretched demon!"
"Devil spawn!"
Those where just a few of the many names Sephiroth heard when he was a boy. Back when he was training for SOLDIER he was a mischeivous child. Always getting into trouble, getting others into trouble...you name it, he did it.
Him and a few other youngsters caused quite a rucus and usually ended up ruining something in the ShinRa HQ; the grown ups always shouting at Sephiroth with those cruel words after he was found out. Then HE would come along...with a mako injection...or in some cases...a ticket to being locked up in his cell for the rest of the day. Sephiroth stirred and finally awakened, raising his right hand to rub his sore eyes.
"A...a dream?" he thought. After tiredly wiping away his drowziness and adjusting to the dark conditions of the room, Sephiroth sat upright and got to his feet.
"Where...am I?" Sephiroth thought as he examined the room. It was pitch black, and a cold breeze was being emitted from somewhere...blowing gently into the silver-haired mans face. It was then that the one winged angel saw a small gap, possibly where the door was, where a feint amount of light seeped out. He prepaired to summon Masamune so he could easily cut the door apart and leave, but it did not come to him.
"Why is....Masamune...?" Sephiroth thought. When he left the Lifestream he had Masamune with him, but after he blacked out he had no idea where it went...he just remembered waking up by an abandoned Mako Reactor in Kalm, but his vision deteriorated shortly after he awakened...causing him to fall unconscious again.
He felt fine now, but where was Masamune? Better yet...where was HE?

Why was she even here to begin with, didn't she still hate Shinra with a passion. The ninja had heard there was some interesting materia left around,so why not gather it all up and then take off with it.Of course that was the rumor she was told, who knows if it's true or not but hey she never passed a chance.
Being in this place gave her a eerie creepy feeling though,as if someone else was here and lurking in the darkness.Of course that might just be her imagination there was no way there was someone here.Finding a materia ball,Yuffie scooped it up and then continued on her way down a long narrow dark hall.
"I wonder what's down here,it's creepy....really really CREEPY".
Peeking into one darkened room she didn't see anything of interest, moving on she peeked into another but again found nothing till she came to the last room in this dismal and dark hallway.Peeking slightly through the door,Yuffie was sure she saw something in there a figure but what was it.
"Hello.....".

Why was he here? Why was he alive?
In the Lifestream, free of the pain that had tortured him throughout his short existance, he had found some measure of peace. But now he’d been dragged back into life, with all it's hurt and anguish and despair threatening to drown him once again. Why? Why couldn't he have remained part of that strange, soothing current, little more than a memory of what it is to be alive, yet part of life itself - nothing, nonexistant, and yet part of everything?
If he must live, if he must be drawn once more into suffering, then let him truly put an end to this all. Once more the planet was torturing him, and once more he swore that he would destroy it. For mother. Because that was what mother wanted.* * * The growl of a motorcycle broke the silence. Slowing to a stop in front of the Shin-ra HQ, Kadaj's eyes narrowed. The scars inflicted by Weapon, and later by his battle - as Sephiroth - against Cloud, were gone. Someone had restored the building. He stared up at it silently, at the red emblem of Shinra Inc. on the face of the building. What was the reason for the restoration? Most of Midgar was uninhabitable. Why would there be anyone here, at the very centre of this ruin? The main doors were open. Leaving his motorbike outside, he strode through. The lobby was empty, quiet. Almost too quiet. The silence was still and forced, like the building breathed, and was holding its breath. A prickling sensation at the back of his neck, the sensation of concealed eyes watching him. Unease, deep in his gut, and he drowned his unease in anger so that he would not have to face it. Why was he here? What had drawn him to this empty place? Dimly, he registered the call, whispers in his mind, shadows on water, vague, indistinct, but definitely there. He was here because mother wanted him here. Why? “I guess a remnant wouldn't really know.”The cold anger at the memory of Cloud's words, that fateful day. Anger because he knew they had been the truth. Yes, he was only a remnant. No, he didn't know. Maybe he never would. But as long as mother had use for him, as long as he could still strive to please her, that was enough. Wasn't it? He let mother guide him. The Mako reactors must have been fixed, too; the power was on, the elevators were working. There must be somebody here. Where? If there were people here, where were they? The elevator opened into a hallway. He strode out, trying to give an air of confidence, or at least indifference, to hide his growing unease from the eyes of anybody he might run into. Again, there was nobody. Again, there was a sensation of somebody watching. He narrowed his eyes. It didn't matter. There was something here that he needed to find. He knew that, somewhere at the back of his mind. Why else would he be drawn here? He lost count of how many floors he passed, each as empty and silent as the next. Striding up a short flight of stairs, he paused in front of a door. Here.Through the door; more doors. It was a room full of doors. Heavy, reinforced doors. The kind of doors built to keep people in. Most stood open, and through the open doors he could see small, dark cells with reinforced walls. But a few were closed. Whatever he was looking for, it was in one of these cells. He paced along a row of doors, ignoring most of the closed ones. He knew immediately when he'd reached the right one. Something drew him, inexhorably, towards it. He stared at it. Was... mother in there? The call was more definite, persistant. It wrenched at his heart, so strongly it was almost painful. Mother's call. Without thinking, he reached up and pressed the release key on the electronic door lock. Inside, the cell was as dark as the others. Squinting into the gloom, he saw movement, and his heart leapt. "Mother?" As his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he could make out the figure standing there, watching him. His heart sank, and something else rose to replace it. Jealousy, hatred, he wasn't sure. His hand strayed to the hilt of Souba, but something... something powerful... smothered the impulse before he could act on it. It was him. Mother's favoured son. "...Sephiroth." ((Woah-kaaaaay... That was a lot longer than I intended it to be. o.O'' ))

((lol. don't worry! Your long posts are always good. It's like reading a story with your posts! )) Sephiroth turned his gaze from the door to ponder on how to open it himself, but something was clouding his thoughts...a voice...lurking in the very back of his mind. Taunting, cursing...instructing. Just before he could make any sense of all the things the voice was trying to tell him, he heard the door release and open. Turning his head so he could look over his shoulder. He was unarmed right now, but that didn't mean he couldn't attack whoever it was opening the door. That's if he had to, after all, he felt a certain presence not too long ago that was most...unwelcoming. As the door opened and the light faded into the room, Sephiroth turned around fully to face the door and cracked his knuckles. That very same energy he felt was opening the door right now. It wasn't Cloud, Sephiroth recognised the blondes energy almost immidiatly...usually he was capable of making out who was approaching him, even without seeing them, by feeling their presence. The beings he comes across often have souls filled with mixed emotions...but this one...it seemed very distorted...almost as if the person was lost inside. But he also felt like he had sensed this type of energy before...but from who? "Tainted by darkness...searching...for someone...this soul feels so very familiar." Sephiroth thought before easing his 'possible attack' he was prepairing, rubbing his forehead. Then it hit him...the energy was just like his. Did he concider this similar energy a threat? Most certainly. As the door finally finished opening, Sephiroth heard the voice of a youth call out 'mother'. That was when the light revealed the figure of the one who called out mother, the light at first distorted Sephiroth's vision so much that he had to cover his eyes to sheild them. After all he did just wake up in a pitch black room, in goodness knows where, and had heaps of light just hit him in the face after he adjusted to the darkness. He heard the figure say his name, and just to make sure they where not going to pull a sneak attack on him, he uncovered his eyes and immidiatly took a defensive stance. "And you are...??"

How? This could not be... Sephiroth - the real Sephiroth – was dead.
But then, he had been dead himself, until not so long ago.
The one-winged angel dropped easily into a defensive stance, and Kadaj could sense the spark of energy from him as clearly as if it were his own. Ah, but Sephiroth didn’t recognize him, even though he was a part of him.
“Kadaj,” he muttered, his tone irritable. “I’m surprised you don’t know, brother.” He spat the last word out like poison. Sephiroth had to be one of the last people he wanted to run into.
If Sephiroth was here... what use was he to mother? Before his goal had been the Reunion... to become Sephiroth. But here was Sephiroth, already whole, already powerful enough to carry out mother's bidding without trouble. What if... what if mother didn't need him any longer? He had failed her... she had done so much for him, given him everything - all the tools he needed, all the power - and he had failed. His Reunion had failed. If Sephiroth was here... there was no need for a Reunion.
A flash of memory. Memory that didn't belong to him, yet was a part of his own memory. A memory that belonged to Sephiroth. Calling, drawing all those who bore the cells of Jenova to him. Hojo, that pitiful fool, his own father, had even injected himself with Jenova's cells! He had made himself just another puppet of Jenova's, and through him, so much of the work had been done. He had been allowed to take his research to the next level, enhancing Shin-ra's elite force, SOLDIER, by injecting the cells... he had created an entire army of hosts for Jenova, all ready for their Reunion...
They followed just another clone, though they didn't realise it at the time. They followed a clone to the place where he - the real him - slept, encased in condensed Mako - where he had slept since that day when, in the mountains above Nibelheim, in revenge for the destruction of his home town, a man named Cloud had thrown him into the liquid Mako in the base of the reactor. Any normal man would have died, being submerged in Mako, but he had survived, and had been washed up in the crater on the Northern continent. Any normal man would have died - but he was not a normal man. He was a god. And now, he was calling the hosts of Jenova to their Reunion.
An army of Sephiroths! Imagine it! An army of gods! And yet, they fell before they reached him, one by one. They were nothing but pitiful humans, who weren't strong enough, even with the power of Jenova, to survive. They were not worthy of becoming gods. They all fell. All but one.
Kadaj's face twisted into anger and denial, and in an instant, he had drawn Souba. But again, something stopped him, freezing him in his tracks. At first he though the controlling influence was mother, but this was far less vague, much more as though it was his own body defying him. It wasn't mother. It was Sephiroth. He allowed the muscles in his arm to relax, let it fall to his side, Souba still in his hand.
He forced the memories away. What did those memories have to do with him, anyway? He wasn't just another clone, whose only purpose was to become another Sephiroth, another angel of death... He wasn't! He was different! He was special! He was doing mother's bidding, and he was happy to be of use to her. He would give himself up to her entirely, a sacrifice for her cause. Mother loved him for that, he knew; she must. Mother loved him! ...Didn't she?
And here, in the Norther crater, he was defeated. Defeated by the last of those bearing the cells of Jenova. What irony. The puppet had cut his strings. But it was not over. It was never over. His very existance would pollute the Lifestream, just as Jenova's existance polluted it. And from the Lifestream, deep in Northern Crater, rose the remnants... Remnants of the corrupted Lifestream within him. Remnants of his memory. But that was all they were, only remnants. A memory wasn't enough.
The complete opposite of those humans. The humans had borne Jenova's cells; it was everything else they lacked. The remnants lacked only those cells. This would be a different kind of Reunion. Perhaps this time, it would succeed.
And yet, Kadaj realised, he had fared no better than the pitiful humans. The anger writhed in his chest as he stared at Sephiroth, his hand tightening on the hilt of Souba so much that it hurt. And although Sephiroth belonged to mother - was a part of Jenova herself - Kadaj had not had mother's cells, only a memory of what it was like to be part of her. He, and Loz and Yazoo, belonged to Sephiroth. They were part of Sephiroth, and Sephiroth held their strings. He was nothing but Sephiroth's puppet. A remnant.
Childish anger and jealousy consumed him, but he could not move to attack. No, of course he couldn't. The puppet-master was in complete control. Kadaj wasn't one to control his emotions - that wasn't who he was. With no outlet for his rage, he could only stand and glare at the one-winged angel, his entire body shaking with supressed anger.
But the will of Sephiroth was the will of mother, surely? If mother controlled Sephiroth, and Sephiroth controlled him... It wasn't the same, but even so, he was still doing her bidding. And maybe he could be useful enough for mother to love him. This time, he wouldn't fail. But would Sephiroth even give him the chance?
“Mother sent me,” he said, finally, a challenge in his voice, childish in his denial – mother had sent him personally, which made him important. At least as important as Sephiroth.

Sephiroth relaxed his defences once it became apparent that the newcommer was struggling with something, an action perhaps? At first the one winged angel thought this 'Kadaj' was sent to finish him off...but then heard him say the term 'brother'. Sephiroth rasied an eyebrow in confusion, trying to make some sense of the situation...why was this 'Kadaj' adressing him as his brother? As the silver-haired man could recall, he was an only child. The voices returned to Sephiroth the instant he tried to make sense of what Kadaj was trying to say, the voice of a strange woman...but it seemed very distorted and faded...too weak to make much sense out of. Sephiroth laughed in a slightly mocking manner.
"....brother?" he laughed under his breath. He also felt the anger and hatred within Kadaj...his jealousy...the child-like nature within him. He then heard Kadaj mention about 'mother' sending him.
"I find it hard to beleive you are my 'brother'. For one, why would mother talk to the likes of you? I can't hear her anymore." Sephiroth mocked. That very instant, Sephiroth felt a similar energy to that of Cloud comming from the youth...an energy that he felt he could manipulate. He laughed softly under his breath, amused by the similarities he felt. Recognition was key to success. If the energy he felt was really what he thought it was, then perhaps this youth would be of use to him? But he would have some fun for now, he'd try out that whole 'manipulating' thing later.

Kadaj’s face twisted into a snarl as he felt the mocking disdain from the one-winged angel. He didn’t like this at all… He was trapped in his own body, and it made him feel vulnerable. Feeling vulnerable made him only more angry. And the more his anger grew, the more intense the controlling influence became, crushing in around him from all sides, suffocating.
Sephiroth was laughing at him.
“Tch. So this is the great Sephiroth,” he snapped, the spite and jealousy resounding in every word. “You can’t be all that great if you can’t even recognize yourself.”
If only he could move... then they would see who was the most worthy son. He would prove to mother that he was useful, by besting Sephiroth. He was a part of Sephiroth, why shouldn’t he be able to defeat him?
Why would mother talk to him...? He ignored the question, because the only answer he had was one that he didn’t want to acknowledge himself. Mother had used him to find Sephiroth here. Mother’s ultimate goal was always Sephiroth, her angel of death. Now she had Sephiroth, would she discard him? He pushed the thoughts away again.
But Sephiroth couldn’t hear her? It was true, without Jenova’s cells, Kadaj’s connection to mother had always been weak. But he could still hear her, even if only a whisper no stronger than the echo of a breath. Why would Sephiroth, who was so close to mother, not be able to hear her? Or was he only toying with him?
For now, Kadaj could only glare at the man he was a part of, loathing the very sight of him.

Sephiroth felt the desire within the youth to attack...and why wouldn't he? He was mocking him, after all.
"Hmph...come get me then, if you want proof." Sephiroth chuckled, opening his arms out as if to express himself as an easy target. A sinister smirk slowly edged its distinctive shape onto his face, his eyes narrowed and gleeming that clouded mako colour.
"Strike me, with all your force...brother." he teased. He felt the same tension that the youth was showing, but instead of maintaining it within himself he relaxed...allowing his arms to droop by his sides. He chuckled before waving his hand towards Kadaj as if to say 'come on then'
"Let's see what use I can make of you then..." he thought, the sinister smirk still planeted on his face.

Kadaj’s eyes narrowed to slits at Sephiroth’s words. He was inviting him to attack – he didn’t even have Masamune – what a fool. But still he could not move…
And then Sephiroth lowered his arms, and the pressure he felt holding his body still fell away like cut ropes. For a moment he hesitated, at the arrogant gesture from Sephiroth, but he only hesitated for a moment.
Raising Souba so the twin blades were horizontal in front of him, his face was a half-snarl, almost animalistic. He drew the sword back behind himself, lunging at Sephiroth, and swept the weapon back around in a wide slash at the one-winged angel. How could he defend himself, without Masamune? He had no chance.
This is for you, mother…

Sephiroth smirked just as Kadaj approached, he could feel it...his anger...his rage....the darkness within him. It caused his blood the churn with excitement, the only problem was...Kadaj was a fool to actually attack. Sephiroth maye be unarmed, but of course, he had trained to defend himself without Masamune. As Kadaj got just a few inches close to Sephiroth, the one winged angel turned the tables and immidiatly sprung into attack mode himself. Crouching in the blink of an eye to avoid Kadaj's swing, Sephiroth rose to counter attack with a firm and well clenched fist...aimed directly at the youths jaw. WHACK!
"I was expecting him to be a little smarter than to attack without caution." Sephiroth chuckled inside his head "But none the less, he is still powerful and could prove very useful." Sephiroth was then breifly distracted by the calling of a certain young female who was at the door, her voice sounding most uncertain to who she was calling to. The silver-haired warrior couldn't make out who she was though, because the room was dark and the door was very well lit...and she was stood right in between the framework...leaving nothing but a darkened sillohette to his vision.
"Hmmm?" Sephiroth thought as he remained distracted by the new arrival, almost forgetting that he was still in combat with Kadaj.

"WHOA what the heck is going on here,I mean....well uh I came here to find materia and then THIS a fight.".
Yuffie just stood dumbstruck,it was quiet just a minute ago and now the silence was broken by these two figures arguing with eachother.Maybe it would have been best to stay away from this stupid building, holding materia with one arm and putting a finger to her cheek to ponder for a momment the voices did seem familiar from what she heard fromt he conversation.
"You know if this is a bad time,i'll just come back later or how bout not at all.WAIT now I know those voices,it's uh.....that remnant and the silver haired dude Sephiroth".
But wait weren't they both dead,Cloud killed them both didn't he so why was she hearing their voices if they are indeed suppose to be dead.
"This is a family issue,so since i'm not involved in this little dispute i'll just be on my merry way back to Wutai and leave you two to argue".

For a moment, as Souba sliced through empty air and Kadaj found Sepiroth suddenly inside his guard, time seemed to stand still. Mako green eyes, widened with surprise, met an almost identical pair, narrowed, cold, mocking... and then Kadaj's head was snapped backward as Sephiroth's fist met with his jaw. His momentum had carried him straight into the strike; the force of it sent him reeling backwards several paces, his hand shooting up to the place he had been struck. He grimaced, tasting blood.
No, that had been far too easy. A fluke. He'd been careless, that was all. It wasn't over yet.
A voice broke the short silence that followed, from somewhere behind him. He almost glanced over his shoulder, but caught himself before he could do such a foolish thing. The voice, and the owner of the voice, was insignificant. Female, the tone concerned, but unfamiliar. Completely insignificant. Sephiroth, however, was no longer concentrating on him, staring past him at whoever had spoken. In an instant, he had raised his arm, charging one of the Materia embedded in it.
Even as Sephiroth's attention returned to him, he threw out his hand, a wordless yell tearing from his throat as a bolt of blue lightning lanced from the twin tips of Souba and directly toward the one-winged angel.

Sephiroth instantly regained his senses once it became obvious that the new arrival...was none other than that meddling Wutai-kid. But before he could start an insult of some kind, Kadaj's cutting yell resorted him to turn his attention back to the fight. Leaping out of the way from Kadaj's bolt attack, Sephiroth entered an immidiate defensive stance. Standing upright and loosening his guard again.
"That's enough for now...You've proved your worth...Let's see if this will work..." Sephiroth thought before tensing his energy up once again, a simple raising of his hand towards his 'brother' as a grin appeared on his lips. Closing his eyes and chuckling lightly, Sephiroth could feel Kadaj's energy within the very palm of his hand...he felt it once more, that seem feeling he got when he used Cloud to give him the black materia so long ago. How long he had waited to feel that same thing once again...the power...of the puppet master.
"Destroy the girl, puppy." Sephiroth mocked, obviously instructing Kadaj to take care of this new, but old, threat...the recognisable Wutai-scum...Yuffie. But he had to mock him, after all, he did just show up out of who knows where and acted cold towards him. Cold people, end up cold and dead if they messed with Sephiroth. Kadaj was lucky. The one winged angel obviously wanted to keep his 'puppy-puppet' alive...the more puppets he has, the less threats can approach him. The puppets, are after all, just puppets.

“Tch.” Kadaj glared at the one-winged angel as Sephiroth dodged his Bolt attack effortlessly. Even as he prepared to attack again, Sephiroth lifted one hand... Expecting perhaps a Magic attack in return, Kadaj gasped in surprise as something tightened about him so powerfully it almost crushed the air from his lungs. His body froze, locked in place like he'd been Petrified.
Pain. Intense, unbearable. If he could have moved his hand, he would have dropped Souba. His head felt like it was splitting apart, his sight was lost to bright flashes of nothing. Something snapped inside his mind. Vaguely, as if from a distance, he heard himself cry out.
Stillness. Silence. No pain.
He didn't feel like his body belonged to him. As though he was watching his actions from a distance.
Breathing heavily, swaying slightly on his feet, Kadaj stared blankly for a moment at Sephiroth. He couldn't even muster the coherency to show anger at the insult, although somewhere, buried deep down, the anger was still broiling over.
The girl...
What was he doing? Trapped in his own uncooperative body, Kadaj watched helplessly as he turned on Yuffie.
No, he didn't care about her. She was insignificant. His battle was with Sephiroth.
Sephiroth... This was his doing.
The girl...
His hand tightening on the hilt of Souba, he ran at Yuffie, drawing the weapon back, ready to attack as soon as he was in range...

"Oh great now this stupid remnant wants to fight me,guess I have no choice in the matter after all I need some action".
Putting the materia aside, she took her out boomerang and held it in front of her ready if needed to guard herself when Kadaj attacked. For a quick momment she glanced over to Sephiroth, sticking her tounge out then diverted her attention back towards the other who was running at her.
"Alright little puppy come and get me,but don't think i'll go easy on you."
"Sephiroth....you bastard,why can't you stay dead"
