Tseng would probably have felt far less uneasy should Sephiroth have simply attacked them as he had initially expected that he would. This odd behaviour was worrying… and not only because it made him wonder what the parallel effects to Cloud Strife would be. Were they wasting time here, facing off with the wrong person?
Sephiroth gave no answer to his enquiry about Tifa, but an answer had not been necessary. He had spared a Turk or two occasionally during the search for Cloud in order to check up on Miss Lockhart. He knew full well how she was doing. Injured, but alive. Alive, possibly, because of Sephiroth. As it was Cloud who had wounded her, and Sephiroth who had attempted to heal her before losing consciousness.
Everything was turning upside-down.
But even as he was turning this over in his mind, Sephiroth’s anger threatened to boil over. Luckily, the One-Winged Angel struck out at a wall, and not a person. Tseng levelled his gun at the silver-haired man— his aim pinpointed directly between Sephiroth’s eyes, his finger tightening just slightly on the trigger… just slightly.
The leader of the Turks hesitated. Why was Sephiroth talking as though he were once again a SOLDIER, loyal to ShinRa, and as concerned as they were about the current situation? Hunt “us” down. Not “you” – not even “me” – but “us”. Slowly, he lowered the gun to his side once more.
“I will contact Rufus now,” Tseng said evenly, still uncertain that it was the correct thing to do. “If you don’t mind, Sephiroth, I will request that you please control your temper.”
Flicking through the numbers stored in his cellphone, Tseng dialled, still watching Sephiroth warily as he waited for the one he was calling to pick up.
“Cissnei?” he spoke, finally. “Please allow me to speak to the President.”
Another brief wait.
“Sir? Sephiroth wishes to meet you. He claims to hold important information regarding the Black Materia, and is unwilling to speak to anyone else. There has been no open aggression,” Tseng paused, glancing at the cracks in the wall left by Sephiroth’s fist, “towards personnel. However, I am interested in your opinion on the situation.”
((Bad. I blame Bob.))

“Tseng gave everyone orders ahead of time,” Yue muttered irritably as he turned to head for the stairs again. Now he’d broken his cellphone, he’d have no choice but to check on the shard himself. Which wasn’t such a problem, seeing as that was what he had been planning to—
He froze in his tracks, eyes narrowing slightly. “Don’t call me kid,” he snarled. “Or I’ll give you another black eye t' match the one you got already.”

"Tseng never gave me any orders!" Reno pouted, folding his arms and flashing off a typical 'spoilt-brat' glare at Yue. The red-head was only half wrong though in what he was saying. He probably did get orders, but he was locked in the broom closet for ages and his cellphone was back in his office. As soon as the alarm went off he just ran...he didn't remember to go grab his weapon or phone...so in a way, it was his own fault he didn't get any orders. But he wasn't going to let anyone think he knew that. Just before Reno was about to continue running downstairs, he heard and caught sight of Yue threatening him to keep his mouth shut. So the red-head hit a raw nerve? This wasn't going to end well...taking up bad habits to repress those painful memories was something Reno never hesitated to do. He couldn't drink because he was on detox, he couldn't smoke either because his family would kill him...all he could do was vent that frustration through his job, or worse...through irritating others. "You think your little threats can scare me??" Reno teased "Hmmmm? You think a tiny punk like you will shut me up too??" he laughed. That was when he remembered that something bad was going to happen...and he had to run from whatever it was. "OH CRAP! I gotta get outta here before they find me!!" Reno whined, flailing in a panic. "Get outta here!!" (mine was uber fail! )

If Reno had just kept quiet, Yue would have let it drop. He wasn’t expecting an apology, just for Reno to shut the hell up and stop calling him a kid. There were more important things to be dealing with than this idiot. But being the street-brat that he was, Yue wasn’t about to let Reno have the last word. Drawing the second katar from its sheath again, he turned on the red-head once more.
Yes, he was short, and yes, he looked younger than he was, and was sometimes mistaken for a teenager, but he was twenty-freaking-three, and he wasn’t about to let some recovering-alcoholic moron suffering a goddamned mid-life crisis take the piss.
One blade floated menacingly at the level of Reno’s face… the other found a lower, and rather more worrying target, as Yue glared up into Reno’s face with an expression that clearly told the older Turk not to f**k with him.
“If I were you, I’d shut the hell up right now. ‘Less you want me to cut them off?”

(Eh, I sorta manipulated Cissnei’s actions toward the bottom. Tseng did it first. Blame him, spare me!)
However much he wished he could, Rufus could not return to the work sitting before him. It was simply impossible with the way things were at present. He only managed to stare at it, as if reading, but failing to grasp the text inscribed upon the parchment. He had a lot on his mind, in spite of his efforts to banish each and every thought to some unseen corner of it. The president managed to maintain a rather indifferent appearance alongside his faux scanning of the document, waiting to see what the siren and its prophetic wail would do. Were his worries unreasonable? Was it possible that the triple-threat of Cloud, Kadaj and Sephiroth had finally done him in? Was he...dare he say it...slipping?
It was at around that time that Cissnei’s phone rang. Rufus glanced up for a moment before returning to what he had been doing; or making a show of doing, rather. The sudden introduction of the sharp ringtone seemed to have somehow freshened his mind though, and he found he could not pay some amount of attention to the proposal at his desk. Just before he could sign off on it, the Turk across from him spoke. The president raised his head, finding her gaze. Combined with her words, he found that he could not shrug off her suggestion easily. Why would he? She had been content to wait it out only thirty seconds prior, and now wanted to leave. Whoever started those alarms had to be nothing short of bad news.
The president was still for a moment. Then, without a word, he got to his feet. The alarm felt somewhat ominous from the get go, and here a single call makes one of his Turks rethink her options. Something was going on below. He would soon be informed of just WHAT was going on, as he was only just out the door when Cissnei’s phone rang. He heard her answer, but was surprised when she handed the phone off to him. Rufus placed the mobile phone to his ear. “Yes?” He was greeted by Tseng’s perpetual business tone, informing him of the happenings several floors down. Rufus could not help but pause for a brief moment, contemplating all that he had been told within the span of three seconds, give or take. His reply was simple.
“If I was to appear, do you believe that he would hold to present mannerisms?” Knowing that Sephiroth was most likely no more than a few feet away, Rufus was fishing for nothing more than a yes or no answer. Sephiroth was a dangerous man, no matter how you looked at it. However, here Rufus was presented with what could be a peaceful encounter with the famed ex-SOLDIER. And what was more, he offered information on the Black Materia. This could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to seize the upper hand in Gaia’s present struggle.
(I could probably make it longer to make up for how long I've been gone, but fuck you people.)

Reno had his mind set on fleeing the scene, until Yue's temper started to turn sour...Streer-brat versus rebellious-punk. If it wasn't for the fact that Reno was unarmed, and that Yue's threatening gesture of his own weapons were intimidating as well, the red-head would have continued to let words slip from his mouth. If he was drunk, even in this situation, he'd have kept talking anyway. But the odds were stacked against him and he was forced to keep silent. That was until he took enough steps away from Yue, just to make himself feel a little less...intimidated... "...nothin' you say or do is gonna make me go back up there!" Reno growled, flashing to Yue a glare that issued he wasn't joking "...if I wanted to die, I'd of stayed in this buildin' when MeteorFall happened! Or I'd have let the Sector 7 Plate crush me..." "Sure the rules say ta put the job before anythin' else, but I ain't puttin' myself in danger for nothin'." (I tried to fit a bit of Reno's slanginess in that one. I think I failed! )

The woman was scilent as she handed the phone off, but her eyes became trained on the man wiht her phone. Unfortnatly, she could only hear one end of the conversation, but it was enough to get a good idea of what was going on. Tseng had contact with the enemy, one that had not been neutrilaized yet, according to the siren. A slightly worried frown crossed her face, but nothing more. And Mr. ShinRa wanted to go up there? She shook her head lighly, red curls shifting with the movement of her head. That wouldn't be the safest thing to do... And his saftey waws her job. With a short wave of her free hand to get the blond's attention, Cissnei closed three fingers that weren't her pinky and and thumb to mimic speaking on the phone and put it to her ear. Basically she was telling him to do it over the phone while they evacuated. (X.x)

If only it were as simple as a yes or no answer. Sephiroth was far too unpredictable… Although so far, he seemed to be behaving himself. One thing Tseng was certain of, however, was that if the silver-haired man did not get his way, and quickly, things were unlikely to remain as civil as they were now.
“I’m afraid I cannot be certain, sir, but I believe… patience is limited.”
Had Tseng even considered the possibility of Rufus speaking with Sephiroth over the phone? Probably not. He was a little distracted at that moment, after all. But if he had, he might have also considered that it was doubtful Sephiroth would be satisfied with that. He seemed far too wary of “tricks” that ShinRa and the Turks might pull on him… which was, in a way, perfectly justified. ShinRa Inc. hardly had the purest of reputations.
But Tseng also had to consider that Sephiroth’s determination to speak to Rufus was not driven by the purest intentions, either. The One-Winged Angel had, after all, tried to destroy the world. Twice.
Mistrust stacked upon mistrust. It was, Tseng mused, as he waited for Rufus’s decision, something of a catch-22 situation. Hardly the best of circumstances, especially when one wrong move could cost you everything.
((It's short. Deal with it. ¬_¬ ))

“Hn,” lowering his fists to his sides, the short blades of his katars with them, Yue shrugged, rolling his eyes irritably. He didn’t have time for this. “What happened to ‘it’s my job’? First law of the Turks, an’ all. Well you do what the hell you like, an’ don’t come cryin’ ta me when Tseng fires your ass.”
If it weren’t for the fact that he was thoroughly pissed off from just having been knocked down the stairs, Yue might have laughed. Reno was one of the higher ranking members of the Turks, and one of the longest-serving; from way back when Veld was still in charge. He had always been a lazy slacker, but when he could be bothered, he was good at his job. And here he was, acting like a total coward. Pathetic. Couldn’t even do anything more than back away from a blade held in front of his face. All Turks were well-trained in unarmed combat. The red-head’s first reaction should have been to disarm Yue, with force if necessary. The street-rat was his underling, after all, and in the act of threatening him, was in direct breach of conduct. Threatening a superior was enough to get anyone in serious shit, but it seemed Yue couldn’t care less, when that superior was a moron like Reno.
“An’ ‘sides, no one’s dyin’. Intruder’s no threat. Fell for the diversion. Tseng an’ the others are dealin’ with him now.” A little confident about that? Yue had no direct experience of Sephiroth’s power, after all. He’d been only sixteen at the time of Meteorfall, and it was a good three years after that when he was recruited into the Turks, long after his old “job” had been destroyed with Midgar.
As Yue started up the stairs once more, he paused, speaking over his shoulder to the red-head.
“You’re pathetic. Might’ve respected you once, but not now. You’re no Turk.”

Sephiroth patience was wearing thin, if he didn't pass along this information soon he might have to turn around and go looking for Cloud sooner than he'd have expected. The Black Materia's 'poison' was rapid, and leaving Cloud with so much of it for too long will kill him and anyone he so much as sees when the darkness finally overpowers him. Sephiroth just hoped Tifa wouldn't get involved with the blonde for a second time, he didn't understand it, but he felt responsible for the injuries in that battle over at the old labs...back when he had 2 shards of that black poison in himself.
"You're testing...my patience..." Sephiroth growled quietly, attempting to keep his temper down. If it wasn't for that painful alarm noise the one-winged angel might have felt a little calmer, that and the ex-General was never fond of this section of the building previously. Shut the alarm up and go somewhere else, you might stand a better chance of Sephiroth not throwing another tantrum...or attacking...
"If I can't speak to him in person, then shut that damn alarm off and I'll leave. Then you won't get a single bit of information" the one-winged angel suggested, keeping his tone as calm as possible...although a slight hint of the irritation he was feeling seeped through into his words.
EDITED: Cause Tseng told me to. <_<

(Well, now that I’ve been outclassed by my own underling....)
Rufus stroked his temple with a single hand, wishing to make the movement as subtle as possible. He had originally planned to possibly speak with Sephiroth in person, as he no doubt wished to do the same. The power behind a face-to-face meeting was without doubt, and such conference may help diffuse the situation at hand. However, Cissnei silently indicated an alternate and wholly different plan. In this case it was for his safety, but such an act might be necessary. Would Sephiroth be placated by such a method though? Will he suspect a ruse instead? Oh, the troubles of this man....
He was only silent for a moment longer, but within his head he worked out several minutes worth of possibilities. Considering who he was dealing with and what he had done in the past, not all of them were a upbeat as he would like. He had tasked himself with making amends for the doings of his father and himself. He would not stop here. And yet, he doubted his present staff would allow him to do anything too daring. He had moved his place of work just to appease Tseng, and it turned out to work. Why not go with the opinion of another? If it didn’t work out the situation could easily be amended.
“Ask him to take the phone,” came Rufus’ reply. All the while his eyes were directed to Cissnei. “If he is willing I will speak to him like this.”
(Ubberer badder. Not sorry though.)

The woman smiled in satisfaction as she turned away from Rufus for a moment, her shiny corfams only making quiet noises each time she stepped closer to the President's desk. She was getting worried now; where was her Backup & Escort? Rufus wasn't expected to stay in the building with a possible threat still here. Cissnei picked up the phone on the desk and dialed a number out of memory. Frowning when she only got Yue's Answering machine. Odd, he had just called her ...
Golden eyes flicked back toward the blond man once again to see if his request had been granted or not as she tried a few other numbers; SOLDIER Floor, Security Floor, Yue again, and then finally Reno. whether or not she spoke to his answering machine didn't matter, she still said the same thing.
"Reno, where in the world are you!?" She hissed quietly into the phone, so she would only be picked up as background noise by whatever intruder had paralyzed ShinRa for the moment. "Hurry Up!" The female Turk would of probably like to curse right about now, but she kept her professionalism about her. She hung up, then after a great moment of debate and a guess that the unknown man had more than likely agreed to take the phone by now, Cissnei called Tseng's personal phone.
Which was pretty much just another work phone, all things considering.
"Reno hasn't arrived yet, and neither has anyone else. We're moving out without them." She explained in the same low voice without expecting an answer. After all, he was apparently standing with this mystery person. "We should be out of the building in less than Five minutes."
So much for emergency procedures, but Cissnei had no doubt in her mind that she would be able to pull it off. There wasn't any room for doubt right now ... and she was a Turk, this kind of thing was her life.

((*levels gun at Sephiroth's head* You want to say that again?))
Holding up a hand to signal for Sephiroth to wait while he concentrated on what Rufus was saying – in a manner that hopefully wouldn’t piss the One-Winged Angel off too much – Tseng’s most pressing concern at that moment in time was what seemed to him a distinctive, and worrying, lack of the noise of a chopper in the background on the other end of the line. Was Rufus still in the building? What had caused the delay?
He said nothing of it, though – he couldn’t, in front of Sephiroth – instead replying to the President’s request to speak to the ex-SOLDIER over the phone with a cool, if slightly distracted, “of course, sir”.
He held the cellphone out for Sephiroth to take— or refuse. “The President is willing to hear you out over the phone.”

Sephiroth gave Tseng a cold stare as he was gestured to keep quiet...surely such a move would trigger another tantrum, but if he was patient, maybe he could get through this useless barricade and get to the President himself. As Tseng finished speaking, and outstretched his arm for Sephiroth to take the cellphone, the one-winged angel glared distastefully at both Tseng and the small electronic device he was being handed. Not once did Sephiroth ENJOY using one of those dreadful things, but with the position he use to be in it was nessacary for him to own one. The irritating 'rings' and the annoying voices of those who called him. He was happy never having that device with him, usually feeling comfortable talking face-to-face. For you never know, if the person on the otherside is who you actually want. A direct confrontation rules out any suspicion over identity, thanks to his enhanced senses and previous knowlege of ShinRa he'd know if he was talking to Rufus or not. But meeting him in person meant the information was more direct. That and Sephiroth hated it when certain individuals use to shout at him down the phone, even when they knew perfectly well that he had enhanced hearing. He took the phone anyway and held it using his left hand.
"Rufus, talk to me in person or I won't talk to you at all." he said coldly, before awaiting an answer. Ofcourse, he was an impatient one sometimes. Waiting wasn't always a good thing, so to reflect that if he was denied direct confrontation constantly he gave Tseng some very angry glares. He would wait for Rufus' answer, before speaking again.
(UBER BAD!)
