Although the greater part of the city of Midgar still lies in ruins, ShinRa HQ has been fully rebuilt.
As always, ShinRa is a centre of controversy and intrigue. Many still view ShinRa with a deep mistrust, but what exactly is going on within these walls is a mystery. Has ShinRa mended its ways, or will it merely bring about more suffering?

| The Slums
Although they have never been a nice place, the Slums are in worse condition than ever. Run down, deserted, and crawling with monsters, the Slums are probably best avoided.
However, in places, it seems that the planet is starting to revive... the flowers that Aerith once sold have spread now that the plate is broken and sunlight can reach the ground. It seems destruction was the only way for the dream of seeing Midgar full of flowers to come true.

| Aerith's Chapel
Aerith spent most of her time here while living in Midgar, tending to the flowers that grew only here and around her house. Now, it lies mostly in ruins, damaged by battles and by Meteorfall.
There is a spring in the church, forming a large pool of water in the crater in the centre. The spring is known to have healing properties, and it is not uncommon for people to visit this beautiful, tranquil place.

A vast, top-secret research complex built around Mako Reactor 0, far below Midgar. The Deepground researchers performed many terrible experiments here in an attempt to produce genetically engineered "super-soldiers" for ShinRa... however, things did not go as planned, and their creations proved too powerful to be controlled.
For a while acting as the base of the Tsviets, the strongest of the DGS, now the complex lies as empty and deserted as the city above it... or so it seems.

After the Meteorfall distaster which left Midgar in ruins, its surviving inhabitants began to build a new town on the northernmost borders of the abandoned metropolis. In the town square stands the Meteor Monument, constructed by ShinRa to commemorate the destruction of Midgar and pay homage to the victims. Destroyed once by Bahamut SIN, it has now been rebuilt. Tifa's bar, Seventh Heaven, is also located in Edge.

A fort, with an abandoned Mako Reactor on top. A rare giant condor once nested here, which the residents fought the ShinRa to protect - along with the Huge Materia they had in their possession. Recently, all residents of this fort were found slaughtered. Although the culprit is unknown, there are suspicions...

Located on the Mideel Continent, this village is home to many secrets. A farming village, the village's rich soil allows Banora Apples to grow. Genesis Rhapsodos and Angeal Hewley grew up here; Genesis's family were the landlords of Banora. A type of apple known as Banora Whites only grew around Genesis's house. Banora White Apple Juice is popular around the world.

A peaceful hotsprings town on the large island south of the Midgar Continent, Mideel wass known for being a place where the Lifestream flows very close to the surface of the planet. Most of the town was destroyed by WEAPON five years ago, leaving little more than a lake of Mako, but gradually, the inhabitants rebuilt.

| Healin Lodge
Close to Midgar, in the mountain range that separates the ruined metropolis and Junon, stands the Healin Lodge. Built as a sanatorium for people suffering Geostigma, it is a peaceful place surrounded by trees and waterfalls. Though Geostigma has been cured, this place still offers refuge to those suffering other such chronic diseases and mental disorders.
